Customer Avatar
My main customer group is university officials who make the decision to purchase my product. However, they won't make this decision without the students at their university wanting them. Because of this factor I chose to make my customer avatar on the typical college student who would be using and benefitting from my product. They are not the purchaser, but they are the ones benefitting and having their need solved by it.
My prototypical customer is a college student at the University of Florida. She is cuban and loves the outdoors. Her name is Yasemen but she goes by Yaz, and when the Starbucks people mess up her name she get's upset. She was raised by a single father so she's extremely independent. She likes to go hiking on the weekends and walks to class every day. She walks to student rec on campus to workout and then walks home. She doesn't have a car so she takes the bus when she has to go off campus. She only shops at Trader Joe's because she's a health nut and only eats organic. She spends a lot of time doing her makeup because she finds it relaxing and spends her free time watching makeup tutorials. She's only 20 but she feels like she's been grown up for many years. Since she had a single father, she had to learn to do things on her own at a younger age and matured very quickly. She's studying criminology and is on the pre-law track. She wants to be a lawyer and move home to work at her fathers firm with him after she graduates in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Her guilty pleasure is Keeping Up with the Kardashians. She's obsessed with NCIS, Criminal Minds, and Law and Order because of her passion for criminal law. She loves coffee since she grew up drinking cuban coffee with her dad. She chose to go to UF since she didn't wanna pay for out of state, but it's the best school in Florida.
I have a lot in common with my prototypical customer. Since I also go to UF there's a lot of similarities between us. I think I made her very similar to myself because I created this product from my own needs and desires. I would consider myself someone who would use and benefit from this product so I created Yasemen similarly to myself and my friends.

You did a fantastic job painting such a vivid picture of your customer. I struggled a bit with the imagination to actually talk about my customer in a way that gave his or her life story. It seems like you had very specific details that give you a pin point customer with a certain way of life that makes them a good segment for you.
